Fantasy football projections, Week 13: 49ers-Bears featuring Carlos Hyde, Colin Kaepernick, Marquess Wilson, more
We break down the Week 13 matchup between the San Francisco 49ers and the Chicago Bears.

San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers almost pulled off an upset in Miami in Week 12. The fact the team was even close in the game is thanks to the performance of quarterback Colin Kaepernick. He may not have one in reality, but he certainly helped his fantasy owners claim victory last week. Not only did he complete 29 passes for 296 yards and a season-high three touchdown passes, Kaepernick also scrambled out of the pocket on 10 occasions to rush for a season-high 113 yards. Chicago only ranks in the middle of the pack against the quarterback position and near the bottom of the league in terms of rushing yards allowed to quarterbacks. Kaepernick could be a sneaky good play for fantasy owners hoping to clinch a playoff spot in Week 13. Playing for pride and to extend his career as a starter, Kaepernick should be his projections in Chicago.
Besides him the only other player worth looking at in any fantasy format on the 49ers’ roster is running back Carlos Hyde. Hyde only rushed for 65 yards against Miami but he saved his fantasy day by catching five passes for an additional 30 yards and a touchdown in the game. As relaxed as Chicago has been against opposing passing games, they’ve been very good against the run in 2016. Only three teams have been better against fantasy running backs than the Bears. Still, Hyde is the only player not named Kaepernick to provide any fantasy upside in San Francisco right now.
Chicago Bears
With Alshon Jeffery still serving a suspension and Cameron Meredith’s production having wavered recently it looks like the receiver to own in Chicago just might be Marquess Wilson. Wilson caught eight out of 11 passes against the Tennessee Titans in Week 12 and finished with 125 receiving yards and a touchdown. He would’ve had more but some of his targets turned into drops. With no one else outside of running back Jordan Howard worth counting on for fantasy production, Wilson just may rise above his projections against the 49ers in Week 13. Fantasy owners willing to take a chance should only do so in deeper leagues.
The safer bet as mentioned is still Howard. Howard totaled 127 yards on 21 touches against the Titans. He faces a 49ers defense that has given up more fantasy points to running backs than any other team in football in Week 13. A high-volume of work with nobody else really around him to make an impact makes Howard the top fantasy option in Chicago’s offense against San Francisco. He may also make a great play in the fantasy postseason considering the Bears are facing the Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers and Washington in the next three games.
