Fantasy football projections, Week 13: Rams-Patriots featuring Jared Goff, Tom Brady, LeGarrette Blount, more

The Week 13 matchup between the Los Angeles Rams and the New England Patriots should be an absolute blowout in favor of the home team. We’ve got the fantasy projections courtesy of numberFire.

The Rams got smoked by the New Orleans Saints in Week 12, but rookie quarterback Jared Goff showed that he could hold his own in trying to keep the game competitive. In just his second career start, the 2016 No. 1 overall draft pick threw for 214 yards and three touchdown passes. He also threw an interception. The effort gave him not only his first career touchdown pass, but also his first career 200-yard passing performance. Fantasy owners who want to gamble in deeper leagues wouldn’t be absolutely crazy to consider starting Goff given that he will be playing from behind for most of the afternoon. Goff should smoke his projections in Week 13 and could be a garbage time fantasy superstar as the fantasy regular season comes to a close.

His ability to connect with wide receiver Kenny Britt is going to dictate whether he puts together any fantasy-relevant statistics at Gillette Stadium. That’s good news for Britt’s fantasy owners. Britt caught five passes out of 10 targets for 52 yards and his fourth receiving touchdown of the season against New Orleans. He will be the only downfield threat for the Rams against the Patriots. It’s hard to imagine Britt not scoring again once the game gets out of reach. He will be the best fantasy performer on the Rams’ roster in Week 13.

The Pats’ passing game gets all of the credit in the world when Tom Brady is under center. Perhaps some in the fantasy community have forgotten the season that running back LeGarrette Blount has put together. Despite not scoring in the last two games, Blount leads the league in rushing touchdowns with 12. Believe it or not he is averaging an outstanding 6.37 yards per carry in those last two contests. Blount is now sharing touches with teammate Dion Lewis, but with the Patriots likely to be ahead by a mile on Sunday, Blount should score a fair number of fantasy points running out the clock. He’ll find his way back into the end zone in Week 13 and that should be enough to get him above his projections.

Of course Blount will have quarterback Tom Brady to thank for all of his second-half points on Sunday. The New York Jets did a decent job bottling up Brady and the first half, yet No. 12 still managed to lead his team to victory. Brady finished with 30 completions for 286 yards and two touchdowns against New York. He’s up against a Rams team in Week 13 that gave up 346 passing yards and five passing touchdowns to the Saints last week. There’s no reason to even look at fantasy projections when starting Tom Brady in your lineup.
