Week 4 of the fantasy football season is here, and we’re back with another crop of start/sit options. We have a nice set of data about each team through three weeks, and can make informed decisions on good plays and traps. With that in mind, we’ll pick wide receivers who should exceed expectations in Week 4, along with three you should probably sit.
Fantasy football, Week 4: Wide receivers to start and sit
We break down the top starting options at wide receiver this week, along with some players who should be avoided.

Start
As a card-carrying member of the Adam Thielen Fan Club, I could list him here every week and not think twice. And my love only grew last week as he got on the same page with Case Keenum and had another huge game against the Buccaneers with five catches for 98 yards. This week, Thielen gets to attack the Lions’ shaky slot defense, which is usually a recipe for fantasy gold. I’m predicting Adam’s first touchdown on 2017.
Rishard Matthews, Tennessee Titans at Houston Texans
Matthews continues to serve as the top wide receiver target in this offense with 10 targets last week against the Seattle defense. Tom Brady carved up the Texans last week, and while Marcus Mariota can only dream of playing at Brady’s GOAT level, he should be able to keep Matthews busy. Last year, Matthews had 11 catches for 196 yards in two games against Houston.
Fitzgerald just keeps on doing it, roasting the Cowboys last week for 149 yards and a touchdown on 13 of 15 targets. Fitzgerald leads the league with eight red zone targets, and the 49ers have given up some big numbers to wide receivers already this season. This seems like a perfect marriage for another fantasy explosion.
Sit
Cooper has a full-blown case of the dropsies, and now he has to face Aqib Talib and the rest of the shut-down Denver secondary on the road. No thanks.
Pierre Garçon, 49ers at Cardinals
Garcon had a great game last week against the Rams, but against solid defenses in his first two weeks (Carolina, Seattle), he was rather limited. This week, he probably draws Patrick Peterson. That’s not a matchup he’s going to exploit. Look elsewhere.
Hilton should get plenty of targets, but will he actually catch any? Expecting Jacoby Brissett to have enough success on the road against the Legion of Boom to make Hilton a fantasy factor is a big ask. It likely won’t get answered.
