We are entering the middle grind of the fantasy football season. With the bye weeks in full force and the injuries continuing to pile up, the waiver wire is more important than ever in this stretch of the season.
Fantasy football waiver wire: Best wide receivers available in Week 6
The bye weeks continue as the fantasy season enters the middle portion of October.

Week 5 was another bad day for injuries, with the New York Giants getting the worst of it. Odell Beckham Jr. went down with a fractured ankle, ending his season. That’s devastating for fantasy owners, Giants fans, and people who like fun football in general. The bad news got worse for the Giants when Brandon Marshall and Sterling Shepard suffered sprained ankles, which will keep them out for likely multiple weeks. That left their depth chart strip-mined of healthy receivers.
In other injury news, DeVante Parker has a sprained ankle and Jordy Nelson picked up a hamstring injury, so those players will have to be closely monitored this week.
This week’s bye teams are the Cincinnati Bengals, Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys, and Seattle Seahawks. That means A.J. Green, Dez Bryant, and Doug Baldwin aren’t available, so it’s going to be another week of diving for streamers. Here are the top wide receiver options owned in 50 percent or less of Yahoo! leagues.
Cooper Kupp, Los Angeles Rams (47 percent)
Oh, what a big day Kupp could’ve had. He had three catches for 44 yards against the Seattle Seahawks, but dropped what would’ve been the game-winning touchdown. Still getting a handful of targets from Jared Goff every week, Kupp has done his work in the middle of the field while Sammy Watkins commands attention on the outside. He’s more useful in PPR leagues, and will have a rough matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars this week.
John Brown, Arizona Cardinals (37 percent)
Finally healthy, Brown seems to have won the No. 2 receiver job back, holding off Jaron Brown and J.J. Nelson. He scored his first touchdown of the season, but two catches for 26 yards is a disappointing stat line with the Cardinals playing from behind all day. His health will always be a week-to-week proposition at this point. Regardless, Brown’s role is more or less secure and he has an appealing matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ injury-ravaged secondary.
Nelson Agholor, Philadelphia Eagles (31 percent)
Written off as a bust after two dreadful seasons, Agholor seems to be coming around in 2017. He’s already beaten his touchdown total from 2016 with three in five games, with the latest one coming on a 72-yarder after he put a clown suit on Cardinals safety Budda Baker. With Carson Wentz dealing, Agholor has settled in as a legitimate WR3, which is his ceiling when the Eagles face the Carolina Panthers on Thursday.
Roger Lewis, New York Giants (1 percent)
There’s a good chance that you’ve never heard of Lewis before the Giants’ injury apocalypse on Sunday. He finished the game as literally their only healthy receiver, with Beckham done for the year and Marshall and Shepard missing several games. The Giants will certainly sign some extra receivers this week, but Lewis is the default No. 1 guy for now. We don’t know if he’s actually good, but Eli Manning has to throw to somebody, even against the Denver Broncos’ No Fly Zone this week.
