Fantasy football rankings 2017: Wide receivers in PPR leagues for NFL Week 6

The SB Nation fantasy staff rounds up the rankings for the top-50 wide receivers in PPR leagues for Week 6.

Remember that episode of The Office where Ryan starts the fire because he left his cheese pita in the toaster-oven set to “oven” instead of “toaster?” Before that’s discovered, Ryan mentions that he’s going to business school and the son-I’ve-never-had love affair between Michael and Ryan was born. Then Dwight becomes obviously jealous of Michael’s affection for his newfound protégé, so he hops in his ’87 Pontiac Trans Am, where Jim and Pam find him sobbing to Everybody Hurts by R.E.M.

That visual of Dwight sitting in his car, preparing for the world to come crashing down on him as he listens to an all-timer, is exactly what it was like for me looking at the PPR receivers this week. Or what’s left of them, at least.

We’ve got pretty much every New York Giants wideout — present, past and future — dealing with injuries. Odell Beckham Jr. is out for the remainder of the season after breaking his ankle, it’s possible that Brandon Marshall could miss multiple games as he also is battling an ankle injury and Sterling Shepard, of course, has an ankle injury, though he’s day-to-day. The Giants play Denver this week. Yikes.

In slightly less serious injury news, Jordy Nelson missed the Packers’ final drive against Dallas on Sunday due to a hamstring injury, but coach Mike McCarthy sounded like Nelson will be good to go. Also DeVante Parker mustered a lousy six yards on one catch against the Titans and picked up a “minor” ankle injury, but it also looks like he’ll be able to play this Sunday against the Falcons.

Others who are in the rankings but still have a question mark tied to them are the likes of Martavis Bryant, Amari Cooper, and Sammy Watkins.

Bryant has been an OK-at-best option for PPR owners, as the targets are there, but he’s failed to surpass 50 yards in all but one game this year. It won’t get much easier this week with a matchup at Arrowhead against the Chiefs.

Cooper had a measly one catch for eight yards, bringing his total over the last three games to four receptions for 23 yards. On the bright side, early signs point towards Derek Carr returning this week at home against the Chargers.

Lastly, there’s Watkins, who hauled in a massive zero passes for zero yards, bringing his grand total over the last two games to one reception for 17 yards. He faces Jacksonville this weekend, so if you dare, strap in for Watkins’ wild ride.
