Washington tight end Jordan Reed made his return in Week 4, catching three passes for 21 yards against the Kansas City Chiefs. Unfortunately this week’s matchup against the San Francisco 49ers won’t be any easier.
Fantasy football Week 6: Jordan Reed, start or sit?
Washington’s most consistent safety valve has been a little off this season when it comes to fantasy production. We break down the fantasy implications.

The 49ers have given up the fewest number of points in the league to the tight end position.
Fantasy impact: Reed is normally a solid fantasy contributor but has yet to score a touchdown this season. He also hasn’t crossed 50 receiving yards yet. Fantasy owners have every right to lack confidence in him with numbers like that.
The San Francisco 49ers normally represent a juicy matchup for opposing teams, but they’ve actually been fantastic at defending tight ends this year. No tight end has gained more than 20 yards on the 49ers.
That includes Greg Olsen of the Carolina Panthers and Jimmy Graham of the Seattle Seahawks. For that reason it’s best to leave Reed on the bench this week. It’s hard to believe that would be a good move, but numbers don’t lie.
Recommendation: Sit
