Washington head coach Jay Gruden has an interesting plan for Josh Doctson in his receiving corps going forward. He and teammate Terrelle Pryor will be competing for snaps as Gruden plans to play whoever “has the hot hand” between the two of them each week. Washington hosts the Dallas Cowboys Sunday. The Cowboys’ passing defense is better this season with a much improved defensive front; however, their secondary is still fairly soft and injury prone.
Fantasy football start/sit advice Week 8: What to do with Josh Doctson Sunday
Washington plans to use Doctson and Terrelle Pryor in a receiver committee. We look at the fantasy impact.

Doctson stands to get the first crack at Dallas Sunday based on who played the best in Week 7. He finished the game with three catches on five targets for 39 yards. Pryor had only two catches on four targets for 14 yards in the loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Overall this season though, Pryor has outpaced Doctson with 19 more targets, 11 more catches, and almost 100 more catching yards. Doctson has the touchdown advantage by one.
Fantasy impact: It is unusual to hear a coach implement essentially a receiver committee, but it sounds like that is what Gruden plans to do. This move does not look good for Doctson or Pryor’s fantasy value, as both players will see a reduction in snaps and owners will not know which guy gets the nod week to week.
Based on who has the “hot hand” right now, Doctson is in position to get the start against Dallas. He has a good matchup against the Cowboys secondary if QB Kirk Cousins does not get swallowed up by Dallas’ pass rush. Unfortunately, Washington has decided Doctson is very replaceable, and that is something you cannot trust in fantasy.
