Week 8 of the fantasy football season is here, and we’re back with another crop of start/sit options. We have a nice set of data from each team and can make informed decisions on good plays and traps. With that in mind, we’ll pick wide receivers who should exceed expectations in Week 8, along with three you should probably sit.
Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 8: Wide receivers
We break down the top starting options at wide receiver this week, along with some players who should be avoided.

Start
The Buccaneers have been hurt by outside receivers all season and will be missing their top two corners in this game, making Benjamin one of the top overall plays of the weekend. After getting just 19 targets over the Panthers’ first four games, Benjamin has 25 in the past three. He’s ready for his big day.
The Chargers should have their way with the Patriots’ defense after the loss of Dont’a Hightower, and Allen should feel like he’s on the field by himself after facing the tough Giants and Broncos secondaries in two of the past three weeks.
Was last Thursday’s explosion a one-week wonder, or is Cooper finally back to being the receiver who was worthy of a second-round pick in drafts? This should be a good test, especially with Bills cornerback E.J. Gaines out of the lineup. It’s probably unlikely that Cooper gets 19 targets like 10 days ago, but 10-12 would set him up for another solid day.
Sit
T.Y. Hilton, Indianapolis Colts at Cincinnati Bengals
It’s a road game against a solid defense. Those factors have usually added up to Hilton being a fantasy non-factor. Hilton has 14 fantasy points in three road games combined this season. He averages 16 PPG at home. Tread lightly with Hilton here.
Will Fuller, Houston Texans at Seattle Seahawks
The Texans are a team in turmoil and now have to face the Seahawks in Seattle with a rookie quarterback. Who knows where DeAndre Hopkins’ head is going to be on Sunday after he boycotted practice on Friday, and Fuller is going to see Richard Sherman’s side of the field all day. Fuller is an every-week starter right now – but not this week.
Marvin Jones, Detroit Lions vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers simply do not allow opposing wide receivers to have big games, and the Lions are a bit of a mess right now, with Matt Stafford struggling, Golden Tate hobbling and Kenny Golladay out. Jones should see an increase in usage, but that doesn’t guarantee a spike in production.
