Doug Martin will be back in the lineup for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but that does not mean that people should write off current starter Jacquizz Rodgers. Rodgers has held down the fort well enough in Martin’s absence, rushing 40 times for 165 yards and a touchdown through three games. He has also caught a couple of passes for 25 yards in that same span.

Rodgers’ fantasy value should remain steady with the return of Doug Martin to the Bucs lineup.

Rodgers should get the start against the New England Patriots Thursday night even with Martin’s return. The Patriots defense is terrible, so it should not be hard to get the run game going. The Patriots have given up 531 rushing yards and three touchdowns so far this season.
Fantasy impact: Rodgers is bound to see a decrease in production as a runner with Martin back in the lineup. That should not concern owners too much because Rodgers’ truest gift is as a pass-catching back. In his second and third years in the league, Rodgers actually had more receiving yards than rushing yards. Given his talent, the Bucs are definitely going to find a way to keep Rodgers a part of this offense. Look at Rodgers as a solid RB2 option.
