Carolina Panthers wide receiver Devin Funchess broke out against the New England Patriots in Week 4. He caught seven of nine passes for 70 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Fantasy football, Week 5: Start or sit Devin Funchess?
The Panthers’ young wideout is heating up heading into Week 5. We break down the fantasy implications.

So should you start him moving forward? The answer to that is pretty clear given the Week 5 matchup against the Detroit Lions.
Fantasy impact: Funchess has been targeted 25 times in the last three games after seeing just two passes thrown his way in the season opener. That’s just over eight targets per game.
At that volume with a potentially offensively abundant game in The Motor City, Funchess should be in starting lineups. That’s particularly true in deeper leagues. One more big week out of him, and there will be no chance of getting this guy off of the waiver wire.
Funchess should be good for at least four catches and 60 yards against the Lions. Throw in a potential touchdown and you’ve got yourself a solid box score.
Recommendation: Start
