When the Philadelphia Eagles traded to get running back Jay Ajayi from the Miami Dolphins, starting running back LeGarrette Blount saw an immediate dip in production. Blount was held under 10 carries for only the second time this season in the Eagles’ romping of the Denver Broncos. Blount finished the contest with nine carries for 37 yards. He was second in touches in the Eagles backfield behind rookie RB Corey Clement. Blount had the fewest rushing yards in Philadelphia’s run committee in Week 9.
Fantasy football Week 11: Start or sit LeGarrette Blount?
The addition of Jay Ajayi to the Eagles backfield puts Blount’s starting role in jeopardy. We break down the fantasy impact.

Blount is still listed as the starting running back in Philadelphia. However, the Eagles coaching staff made it known this week that Ajayi will have a more prominent role in the Eagles offense starting Sunday night against the Dallas Cowboys. The matchup with Dallas is favorable with Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee out for the game with an injury. It is unknown how Blount will work into the Eagles’ offensive scheme Sunday night.
Fantasy impact: Blount’s loss of production in the Eagles offense was expected when Ajayi came over from Miami. Ajayi will probably consume most of the carries while Clement handles the pass-catching duties, making Blount’s role more sparing. The best thing that could happen for Blount would be handling red-zone carries. Still, he is looking at a hard fantasy road ahead and is highly unlikely to eclipse Ajayi or Clement in Dallas Sunday night.
