The Dallas Cowboys were hoping they had figured out the answer to replace Ezekiel Elliott in the running game when Alfred Morris rushed a season-high 17 times for 91 yards against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 11. They were incorrect. Morris was a bust on a short week against the Los Angeles Chargers. He rushed for 36 yards on nine carries and caught one pass for 13 yards in the Cowboys’ loss. Third-string rusher Rod Smith actually out-touched Morris by one reception in the contest.
Fantasy football start/sit advice Week 13: What to do with Alfred Morris Thursday night
Morris took a big step back in the Cowboys’ offense in Week 12. We look at the fantasy impact.

The Cowboys need Morris to play a lot better Thursday night against Washington. Morris was not needed in the first meeting with Washington. Elliott rushed 33 times for 150 yards in the contest. Washington defends pretty well against the run, but it has given up 100-plus yard rushing games to three running backs this season. It has also allowed running backs to score 11 times this season a tie for fourth most in the league.
Fantasy impact: Morris is one of the only Cowboys with fantasy potential Thursday night. Washington has been burned by a handful of running backs this season despite typically playing pretty well against the run. Morris will need to get more touches this game to truly make noise in fantasy. It would also be helpful if he scores his first touchdown of the season. Splitting the carries with Smith is concerning. However, Morris has enough appeal to try at flex this week.
