It’s never too early to gauge the fantasy football landscape, even if we’re still five months away from the preseason beginning.
2017 fantasy football rankings, pre-draft: Running backs for standard leagues
Our ranking of the top fantasy running backs heading into the 2017 NFL season.

Thankfully, the NFL draft is coming soon, and we’ve already seen the major waves of free agency pass by. That’s given us a good idea of what the fantasy landscape of running backs will look like when the 2017 season begins.
There haven’t been too many big changes here this offseason, but some notable names will be playing for new teams come Week 1. Eddie Lacy left the Green Bay Packers to sign with the Seattle Seahawks, where he’ll challenge Thomas Rawls for the starting spot.
Latavius Murray is no longer the Oakland Raiders’ top back. He left to join the Minnesota Vikings and become their No. 1 runner. We also have yet to see Adrian Peterson, LeGarrette Blount, and Jamaal Charles find new homes after their previous teams opted to go in different directions.
But while those guys changed teams, the biggest move of the offseason was the Pittsburgh Steelers using the franchise tag on Le’Veon Bell. Now that he’s back for at least one more year behind Pittsburgh’s stout offensive line, Bell will be the top running back in fantasy football this upcoming season.
