The New York Giants drafted quarterback Davis Webb with pick No. 87 in the 2017 NFL draft. Webb was viewed as a potential first- or second-round pick, but slipped to the third round. He will serve as an apprentice to Giants QB Eli Manning.
2017 NFL draft results: Fantasy implications of Davis Webb to the New York Giants
The New York Giants have drafted quarterback Davis Webb in the 2017 NFL draft. We break down the fantasy implications.

Webb began his career at Texas Tech, was sidetracked with injuries, then transferred to Cal, where he replaced Jared Goff last season and finished second in the nation with 4,295 passing yards. He also threw for 37 touchdowns and rushed for six more. His 382 completions on 620 attempts set Cal records, as well as his 43 total TDs. He capped his 2016 season by earning Senior Bowl MVP honors.
Fantasy impact: Webb is viewed as a project, and he goes to an ideal situation for development. The Giants signed Geno Smith, who will likely serve as Manning’s primary backup. Webb holds no immediate fantasy value right now, and it could be several years before he gets a shot. He could be looking at a Jimmy Garoppolo situation where he is waiting for a trade or free agency, or for Manning to retire. He is worth a dynasty pick, but is a deep stash for now.
