The second week of the NFL preseason is underway. While most of the league’s starters played sparingly last week, look for them to get more extended snaps as we get closer to the regular season. That also means fantasy owners should be looking closely for potential sleeper candidates, with many leagues beginning their drafts over the next two weeks.
Fantasy football 2017: Quarterback sleepers to watch in preseason Week 2
We look at some potential quarterback sleepers heading into the second week of preseason.

It’s still too early in the preseason to make any serious predictions, but we have a general idea of where most players stand on the depth chart at this point. Before the majority of games kick off over the weekend, let’s examine some sleeper candidates at the quarterback position worth keeping an eye on.
The Ezekiel Elliott suspension throws the Cowboys’ entire offense for a loop. While the suspension will likely be reduced on appeal, there’s no telling when a final decision will be made. In the meantime, Prescott might have more on his plate this season with the backfield a big question mark. Neither Darren McFadden nor Alfred Morris looked particularly inspiring in the Cowboys’ first two preseason games. Still going in the trench round of fantasy drafts, Prescott is a potential bargain if he keeps up the efficiency of his rookie year.
After a promising preseason debut, Watson could get thrown into the deep end when the Texans face the New England Patriots on Saturday. It’ll be a real test for him, even if he continues to play with the second unit while Tom Savage gets the start. Watson could make a serious case to win the Week 1 starting job if he has another solid performance here.
Trubisky was vastly better than Mike Glennon last week, completing 18 of 25 passes for 166 yards and a touchdown. Glennon is still the starter for now, but his leash has significantly tightened. The Bears don’t have many legitimate weapons and Trubisky is probably not going to be a serious fantasy factor in 2017, but he’s a good bench stash in dynasty leagues.
Brock Osweiler stunk up the joint once again and the Browns offense didn’t show any signs of life until Kizer hit the field. Granted, he was only playing with the third team, but Kizer had a good day with 11-of-18 passing, 184 yards, and the game-winning touchdown pass over the New Orleans Saints. Osweiler is starting the second preseason game against the New York Giants, but look for Kizer to challenge for more snaps this time around.
