The Cleveland Browns announced on Wednesday that quarterback DeShone Kizer will be the starter for their third preseason game. In a statement released by the team, head coach Hue Jackson said, “we are very excited about seeing DeShone in the role of starter for this week, as he is certainly positioning himself well to earn the starting job heading into the regular season.” The second-round pick has played well, completing 19 passes for 258 yards and a touchdown through the first two games of the preseason. He has also carried the ball eight times for 47 yards and a touchdown.
DeShone Kizer named the starter for preseason Week 3, fantasy stock rising
Browns coach Hue Jackson considers rookie quarterback DeShone Kizer as a regular season starter. We break down the fantasy impact.

Traditionally the third preseason game is a blueprint for regular season Week 1. If that is the case for Cleveland, Kizer will get the regular season start over Brock Osweiler. The rookie still needs to tighten up on a few aspects of his game, but with Osweiler struggling, the job is his to lose at this point. Owners should not reach too high to draft Kizer right now. Consider him as a backup option with potential until he shakes off the rookie jitters.
