The Cincinnati Bengals drafted Tyler Boyd in the second round in 2016, but his rookie year was largely anonymous, finishing with 54 catches for 603 yards and a touchdown. With A.J. Green back healthy, Brandon LaFell still around, and John Ross coming in as a rookie, most fantasy people weren’t expecting Boyd to have a breakout year in 2017.
Fantasy football start/sit advice, Bengals vs. Texans TNF: Tyler Boyd
Boyd didn’t do much in the Bengals’ Week 1 loss. We break down the fantasy implications.

Those low expectations held up in Week 1. With Andy Dalton struggling and throwing four interceptions, Boyd was held in check by the Baltimore Ravens, getting just one catch on four targets for 11 yards. Even though Ross missed the game with a knee injury, Boyd was a minor player on the offense.
Fantasy impact: Boyd isn’t bad as a possession slot receiver, but he’s not going to get many opportunities to stand out with Green, Tyler Eifert, and Giovani Bernard hogging all the targets. With the Bengals facing the Houston Texans on Thursday night, we don’t expect Boyd’s role to change much, even if Ross misses another game. Boyd will only come into fantasy relevance if multiple receivers get injured this season.
