New York Giants running back Paul Perkins did not turn in the season debut he was looking for only rushing for 16 yards on seven carries against the Dallas Cowboys last Sunday night. The UCLA product started out getting the majority of the snaps before the Giants began trailing and pass catching running back Shane Vereen was inserted into the game.
Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 2: Paul Perkins
After a rough outing in season opener, here’s why Paul Perkins should stay out of your lineup in Week 2.

Perkins was discussed all offseason as the Giants main back but he apparently did not blow anyone away in training camp. No matter who is in the Giants backfield, they are most likely going to struggle due to the way the Giants offensive line has played over the last couple seasons. They do not have the talent to dominate teams up front and not having Odell Beckham Jr. in the lineup makes them more predictable in their play calling. This allows defensive lineman to tee-off on these lineman because they know when the Giants will be running and passing the ball.
Fantasy Impact: The Giants once again will be playing on prime time allowing their offensive line to be under the microscope once again. Their opponent, the Detroit Lions, just dominated the Arizona Cardinals. New York should play better at home, especially if Beckham plays, but if they get down in the game or need to move the chains the coaches bring in Shane Vereen. Perkins can only be relied upon around the goal line and early downs. Until he shows multiple weeks of solid production I am looking elsewhere for running back help.
Recommendation: Sit
