Tavon Austin has been a glorified gadget player ever since the Los Angeles Rams drafted him No. 8 overall in 2013. A diminutive speedster at 5’8, 179 pounds, Austin flashed highlight reel plays, but never showed enough to prove he could be a consistent wide receiver at the NFL level.
Fantasy football start/sit advice, Rams vs. 49ers TNF: Tavon Austin
Austin has been invisible through the first two games. We break down the fantasy implications.

However, that didn’t stop the Rams from signing Austin to a six-year extension last year, worth up to $56.14 million. Austin responded by setting a career high with 503 receiving yards and 58 receptions. Hardly barnburner numbers, which about sums up Austin’s underwhelming career.
Fantasy impact: New head coach Sean McVay talked about making Austin a deep threat when he got hired, but that obviously hasn’t happened yet. Through two games, Austin has just six touches for 26 total yards, barely seeing the ball on offense while Jared Goff feeds targets to Cooper Kupp, Todd Gurley, and Robert Woods. Austin will not be close to the fantasy radar when the Rams play the San Francisco 49ers Thursday night.
