The Green Bay Packers have gone all in on converting Ty Montgomery to running back. A wide receiver before making the switch midway through last season, Montgomery’s early-season numbers don’t exactly pop. Through three games, he has 41 carries for just 124 yards, averaging only 3 yards per carry. He also has 18 catches for 129 yards, scoring three total touchdowns on the season.
Fantasy football start/sit advice, Bears vs. Packers ‘TNF’: Ty Montgomery
Montgomery is getting as many snaps as he can handle at running back. We break down the fantasy implications.

Despite the low production, the more telling number is Montgomery’s snap count. He leads the league among running backs with 74 snaps played in the first three games alone. The Packers have kept him on the field nearly the entire time, with no signs of a backfield committee any time soon. Rookie Jamaal Williams has been a non-factor with 10 touches so far.
Fantasy impact: Montgomery is dealing with a wrist injury this week, but he’s expected to be a full participant in the Packers’ Thursday night game against the Chicago Bears. Despite last week’s disappointing performance, he still ranks seventh among running backs in Yahoo! standard fantasy points. Barring a surprise inactive, Montgomery will be on the RB1 borderline against an underrated Bears defense.
Recommendation: Start
