The New England Patriots had big expectations for new running back Mike Gillislee, and it has paid off in a big way. The Patriots eventually blew their lead against the Kansas City Chiefs, but Gillislee had a huge game. The free agent addition has 15 times for 45 yards, and had three touchdowns as the goal line option.
Mike Gillislee dominates for fantasy owners in his Patriots debut
The new Patriots running back is off to a strong start with three touchdowns in the season opener.

The Patriots’ running back situation has been a question mark throughout fantasy football draft season. For one week though, if you were jumping on the Gillislee hype train, he very well might win you your week. There is a lot of football to be played in Week 1, but a 20-plus point effort is always welcome.
Gillislee has been a touchdown machine in limited carries. If he can remain healthy, he looks like a guy who could score double digit touchdowns with ease. Of course, staying healthy will be the big question. The other question is how much work James White, Dion Lewis, and Rex Burkhead will get moving forward. Bill Belichick is one to mix and match his options at running back. Gillislee has likely earned himself a regular spot in your lineup, but don’t be shocked if we see the Patriots change things up from time to time this season in the backfield.
