The Denver Broncos have a lot of talent, but appear to not have all their ducks in a row just yet. After facing the Titans and Colts, they are 1-1. They now face a division rival in the Chargers and will need to up their game, as the Chargers are 2-0, on top of the division, and have looked good so far. The Broncos head to Los Angeles as 2.5-point underdogs.

One change the Broncos made from Week 1 to Week 2 was to get second-year receiver Troy Franklin more involved. He went from a 59% snap rate in Week 1 to an 83% snap rate in Week 2. In that game he barely came off the field except in single wide receiver sets and saw a career high in targets, receptions, yards and snap and route percentage, while leading the team in receiving.

Below, we’ll go over Troy Franklin’s outlook in fantasy football for Week 3.

Fantasy Football analysis: Broncos, WR, Troy Franklin

The Chargers make for a tough matchup this week, as they are allowing just 5.76 yards per target, putting them just behind the Packers as second-best. They also have allowed the third-worst EPA per pass play. They’ve allowed a lot of short receptions to receivers, but only one big play, which was a crazy Patrick Mahomes pulls a rabbit out of his hat completion to Hollywood Brown.

If we could count on Franklin continuing his big snap and route percentage from last week, it would be tough to keep him out of your lineup. Unfortunately, head coach Sean Payton is known for messing around with playing time behind Courtland Sutton. It sure seems like this time it could be different, as Franklin had a big game, catching 8-of-9 targets for 89 yards and a touchdown, while adding 11 yards on the ground to give him a smooth 100 total yards.

Start or sit in Week 3 PPR leagues?

Start. I currently have Franklin as my WR44, which puts him as a WR4 in 12 team leagues. So, he’s not a must start, but if you need a flex position filled, I love his upside and believe his Week 2 will be the start of something good.

Start or sit in Week 3 standard leagues?

Start.
