Shortly after the British Grand Prix, Red Bull delivered one of the biggest shocks of the 2025 Formula 1 season by removing Christian Horner as Team Principal.

Now, the team has officially severed all ties with Horner.
At the time the move was made, Horner outlined in a farewell speech to Red Bull employees that while he had passed the “baton” at the helm of the team, he remained a Red Bull employee as well. However, in documents filed with Companies House on Wednesday, both Red Bull Racing Limited and Red Bull Technology Limited have removed Horner as a director, replacing him with Stefan Salzer.
In the “Termination of a Director Appointment” document filed on Wednesday on behalf of Red Bull Racing Limited, a termination date of August 13 was listed for Horner:
In the “Appointment of a Director” document filed on Wednesday regarding Salzer, it was noted that his “Date of Appointment” was July 8 — the Monday after the British Grand Prix and a day before Horner was dismissed as Team Principal — and that his position was “Global Head of [Human Resources]:”
While Salzer steps into the Director role vacated by Horner, the team moved Laurent Mekies (formerly the Team Principal at Visa Cash App Racing Bulls) into that role with Red Bull.
As for what comes next for Horner, rumors in the paddock hold that the former Red Bull boss will return to the sport sooner rather than later, perhaps with an ownership stake in a team similar to the relationship his former rival Toto Wolff has with Mercedes.
But now, his Red Bull days are officially in the rear-view mirror.
