It took John Daly hitting six shots in the water on No. 11 at The Lakes at the Australian Open. After the sixth shot, he shook hands with fellow competitors Craig Parry and Hunter Mahan. Then, he walked off the course.

It was midway through Thursday’s first round. Daly was seven-over-par after 10 holes. It’s an act that has now banned the American golfer from this month’s Australian PGA Championship at Coolum, golf officials decided.

Here was Daly's response on Twitter: "when u run out of balls u run out of balls. yes, I shook my player's partners hands & signed my card w/rules official."

However, tournament director Trevor Herden was more verbal, and a bit more upset.

“He walked straight off the golf course. It’s very disappointing obviously, for the tournament,” Herden said. “I’m extremely bitter and disappointed. It’s becoming a bit of a habit. It’s unacceptable and unprofessional.”

Daly is currently ranked No. 666 in the world.
