Northern Trust Open Leaderboard: Fred Couples, Aaron Baddeley Battle For Lead
Fred Couples and Aaron Baddeley are taking their duel down to the final back nine at the Northern Trust Open. Couples has taken a 12-under lead, with Baddeley close behind at 11-under. Vijay Singh and Kevin Na are also within striking distance, at 10-under and 9-under respectively.
Couples started out hot, shooting three straight birdies to open his final effort at the Riviera Country Club. He built up an impressive lead before bogeying and double bogeying holes consecutive holes in the middle of his front nine. Baddeley has been more consistent, shooting all parts except for birdies on holes one and seven.

At the Riviera Country Club, Round 3 of the Northern Trust Open is in the books, and Australia’s own Aaron Baddeley heads into the final round with a one-stroke lead. And while Fred Couples has lost the lead, his chances of winning his first PGA Tour event in nearly eight years are alive and well.
Baddeley began to pick up his pace midway through the day, shooting for birdie on four of five holes. His 4-under day puts him at 10-under for the tournament.

On Saturday morning, Round 2 of the Northern Trust Open is nearing conclusion, and Fred Couples holds a two-stroke lead over the rest of the field. If Couples can hold his lead over the final two rounds, he will have his first PGA Tour win in nearly eight years.
After shooting 3-under in Round 1 at the Riviera Country Club, Couples stormed right out of the gate in Round 2 with an eagle on the first hole. He played bogey-free golf after that, adding three birdies along the way to finish Round 2 at 5-under. Couples has 15 PGA Tour wins to his name, but none since April of 2003, when he won the Shell Houston Open by four strokes.

It’s been a disappointing day so far for the big-name players at the Northern Trust Open. Last year’s winner, Steve Stricker, made just one birdie to three bogeys, ending at 2-over and a first round 73. Both Dustin Johnson and Zach Johnson also finished at 2-over.
The reigning FedEx Cup champion, Jim Furyk, struggled mightily throughout the day, ending with a 4-over 75. John Senden and Martin Laird have the best score in the clubhouse, shooting a 4-under 67. They are both trailing leader Spencer Levin, who is 5-under and bogey free through 14 holes.
