Valero Texas Open Leaderboard Update: Brendan Steele Rallies To Take Tournament Lead In Round 3

On Saturday, Brendan Steele managed to piece together a terrific back nine at TPC San Antonio. As a result, after three rounds, he stands atop the Valero Texas Open leaderboard.

Steele had slipped a bit on Friday, suffering a double bogey that dropped him a few spots on the leaderboard. He didn’t fare much better in the front nine on Saturday, going 1-over. But on the final nine holes, Steele shot 5-under without recording a single bogey, and he now stands 7-under for the tournament. Steele, age 28, is on the hunt for the first PGA Tour win of his career.

Elsewhere on the leaderboard, Pat Perez shot 5-under on the day and jumped into the top five, thanks in part to a eagle on the fifth hole. Cameron Tringale, who shot 4-under on the day, stands one stroke behind Steele.

Here is how the top of the leaderboard looks entering the final round of the tournament.

1. Brendan Steele (-7)
2. Cameron Tringale (-6)
T3. Kevin Chappell (-5)
T3. Brandt Snedeker
T5. Pat Perez (-4)
T5. Charles Howell III
T5. Adam Scott
T8. Charley Hoffman (-3)
T8. Rich Beem
10. Six tied (-2)
