Valero Texas Open 2011 Results: Brendan Steele Captures 1st PGA Tour Victory

On Sunday, Brendan Steele won the 2011 Valero Texas Open with an 8-under score, holding off Charley Hoffman and Kevin Chappell. In his first year on the PGA Tour, this win was his first PGA victory. He took home $1,266,504 for his winnings.

Steele shot 1-under for the day, sinking two birdies and bogeying one hole in the front nine. He shot par on the back nine. Hoffman moved up six spots on the leaderboard following his 4-under for the final round. Two birdies and an eagle on the front nine, but a bogey on Hole No. 14 set him back. He kept Steele’s victory to a one streak by making a birdie on the final hole. Chappell entered the final round with a 5-under score and was at 8-under before a bogey on the 17th hole left him at 7-under.

Scott Stallings had the best round of the day with a 5-under score, vaulting up 40 spots to finish tied for 11th with three other players at 2-under.
