When all is said and done at the 2011 U.S. Open, Rory McIlroy will have set numerous records in his triumphant victory over the rest of the field at Congressional Country Club. Of course, Woods didn’t compete in this year’s U.S. Open, but he certainly had to congratulate McIlroy on the victory:
Just received comment from Tiger Woods on the result: "Congrats to Rory. What a performance from start to finish. Enjoy the win. Well done."
Have we seen the passing of the torch between golf sensations? The entire tournament has echoed the way Woods won the 1997 Masters. At 22 years of age, McIlroy appears to have a future ahead of him as bright as Tiger’s once did.
