2011 U.S. Open: Tiger Woods Congratulates Rory McIlroy On Victory

When all is said and done at the 2011 U.S. Open, Rory McIlroy will have set numerous records in his triumphant victory over the rest of the field at Congressional Country Club. It’s been a Tiger Woods-esque performance by McIlroy this weekend--well, a performance reminiscent of Woods’ from back when he was piling up his major championship wins.

Of course, Woods didn’t compete in this year’s U.S. Open, but he certainly had to congratulate McIlroy on the victory:

Just received comment from Tiger Woods on the result: "Congrats to Rory. What a performance from start to finish. Enjoy the win. Well done."less than a minute ago via web Favorite Retweet Reply

Have we seen the passing of the torch between golf sensations? The entire tournament has echoed the way Woods won the 1997 Masters. At 22 years of age, McIlroy appears to have a future ahead of him as bright as Tiger’s once did.
