The Barclays Leaderboard Update: Rory McIlory Off To Hot Start in Opening Round

The top-ranked golfer in the world seems to be in top form once again early on at The Barclays as Rory McIlory has now reached 2-under par for the tournament and is one shot behind the leaders.

McIlory is playing in Thursday’s featured group that includes fellow noted golf enthusiasts Tiger Woods (1-under) and Zach Johnson (even par). The group started on Bethpage Black’s back nine holes where McIlroy managed to birdie 11 and 13 on the difficult track.

Meanwhile, Woods has recorded his first birdie of the day on the par-3 14th. Woods enters the tournament as the FedEx Cup Points leader over McIlory and Jason Dufner, who opted to sit out the first stage of the PGA Tour’s postseason for some much needed rest after playing in 19 events this season.

Pat Perez and Troy Matteson remain tied for the lead at 3-under par and are approaching their second nine holes of the morning.
