The Barclays 2012: Vijay Singh Rises to Contention

The second round of the 2012 Barclays championship is under way and many of the morning groups are moving up the leaderboard. PGA Tour veteran Vijay Singh has the round of the day to this point, as he is 3-under par through 14 holes in his second round and only a shot back from the leaders.

Singh, 6-under par overall, also played well at the PGA Championship earlier this month before ultimately falling off the pace to eventual winner Rory McIlory. The 49-year old Fijian has not won a tournament on Tour since the 2008 Deutsche Bank Championship, where his margin of victory was a staggering five shots over Mike Weir.

Current tournament leader Padraig Harrington (7-under) will tee off at 12:22 p.m ET but very well may be in a tie for the lead should Singh record another birdie in his final holes.

Tiger Woods (3-under) and Rory McIlory (2-under) have a 1:06 p.m. ET tee time later on Friday.
