The Barclays 2012: TV Schedule, Tee Times, Pairings For Saturday

With the field now cut in half, the third round of the 2012 Barclays tees off Saturday morning at Bethpage Black. The extremely tough Long Island layout has played a little more benign this week as compared to the typically brutish USGA conditions. That could create a wild moving day on Saturday as the game’s best look to capture the first leg in the FedEx Cup and build momentum towards the $10 million prize at the end.

Golf Channel will carry the coverage on Saturday afternoon beginning at 1 p.m. ET and running up to 2:30 p.m. ET. The tournament will go off the air for the typical half-hour hand off to CBS, which will finish Saturday’s coverage from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. ET.

The final group of Nick Watney and Sergio Garcia will tee off at 1:45 p.m. ET. Watney has developed into one of the better players in the world over the past two years, but he’s had a decidedly underwhelming and disappointing summer. He was a solid performer in the President’s Cup last fall and seemed to be a lock for the Ryder Cup this year, but his game has been out of sorts all season. It’s surprising to see him at the top of the leaderboard, but if he’s in form, he’s undoubtedly one of the best players in the world. Garcia is another golfer who seems to be constantly in search of his game and doubting himself. But a win last week at Sedgefield has to have the Spaniard in high spirits and in prime position to play the European pest at Medinah.

Tiger Woods, who battled a stiff back on Friday, is just three shots back and will tee off at 1:05 p.m. ET. After carding a 69, Woods stands at 5-under and will certainly be a presence over the weekend. The Saturday round is where he’s tripped up at the majors this season, so it will be interesting to see if he can shake that odd trend at Bethpage.
