Louis Oosthuizen made it interesting but ultimately couldn’t make up any more ground on his final five holes, leaving Rory McIlroy as the lone leader at 12-under following Round 2 of the Deutsche Bank Championship.
Deutsche Bank Leaderboard: Rory McIlroy Remains On Top After Round 2
McIlroy seemed dialed in throughout, establishing an early lead with his strong morning round of 6-under. McIlory had an eagle on one par-five to go along with six birdies on the day, setting the pace for the rest of the field in the process.
Oosthuizen shot a 6-under as well but still remains one stroke back of McIlroy heading into Sunday. The rest of the contenders include two Americans, Ryan Moore and Tiger Woods, sitting at 10-under, along with Seung-Yul Noh (9-under), who failed to build on his impressive Friday by settling for an even score on the day.
Sunday will be monumental with the tournament ending on Labor Day. If Woods can improve his putting, it’s possible that we could be treated to another epic duel with McIlory.
