FedEx Cup Standings 2012: Rory McIlroy Extends Lead, Tiger Woods Close Behind

Rory McIlory only served to build on his lead in the 2012 FedEx Cup after his come-from-behind victory at the BMW Championship, his second straight victory in the playoffs after winning the Deutsche Bank Championship a week ago.

McIlory used a 5-under final round on Sunday to overtake Phil Mickelson and Lee Westwood for the top spot in the tournament and pulled further away in the FedEx Cup standings, despite playing in just 15 events this year.

Tiger Woods, who finished tied for third at the BMW Championship, moves up to second place in the standings according to the latest projected totals.

Lee Westwood enjoyed the biggest jump in the standings, going from No. 23 to No. 8 after his second-place finish on Sunday.

Here are the top ten in the current standings:

1. Rory McIlroy
2. Tiger Woods
3. Nick Watney
4. Phil Mickelson
5. Brandt Snedeker
6. Louis Oosthuizen
7. Dustin Johnson
8. Lee Westwood
9. Zach Johnson
10. Jason Dufner

The top 30 in the current standings will make up the field for the Tour Championship, set to be held Sept. 20-23 at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia.
