It’s not going to finish before dark, but the second session of the day at Presidents Cup is now set for late Saturday afternoon at Muirfield Village. Much like Friday, they won’t be resolved until the following morning, even though they are foursome matches, the fastest format with only two balls per group in play.

Another long rain delay on Saturday means that afternoon session at the Presidents Cup will not finish. Here’s the lineup for the last two-man games of the weekend.
The International side got a split in first session of Foursomes, picking up three of the six points. That’s a win for them, as they have been historically dominated in this format and it’s been the difference in a run of American blowouts at this event.
The alternate-shot play is particularly difficult for the International group because they get so little practice in the unique format. Unlike the USA side, they don’t get to play it each and every fall in one of the two cup competitions and there’s pretty dramatic roster turnover every two years. They then jet in from all over the globe and only get a couple days of practice, struggling to find the feel and distance control of another player’s ball.
But all those disadvantages weren’t manifested in an evenly-matched session Friday night and Saturday morning in foursomes. Now there are only five more points left under the format, so the Internationals just need another split and they’ll have a shot heading into Sunday singles.
Here’s the lineup for the fourth and final two-man session of the week. After Richard Sterne and Marc Leishman sat down this morning, International captain Nick Price decided to keep Branden Grace and Angel Cabrera on the bench for the afternoon. Zach Johnson and Jason Dufner are back for Team USA and Fred Couples, while Hunter Mahan and Jordan Spieth take a break. Again these matches won’t finish before dark on Saturday.
