The alternating shot Foursomes format has been the difference between USA blowouts in the Presidents Cup. But this year at Muirfield Village, the International side held their own to keep the deficit at just one point and make it a ballgame for Saturday morning’s Four-ball, a format where they have traditionally succeeded against the Americans. After two sessions and 12 points, the Americans lead 6.5 to 5.5.
Presidents Cup 2013 results: Scores from Saturday’s matches
The second session is finally in the books, and the International side can consider it a success after Saturday morning’s resumption of Friday Foursomes.

Each team picked up a point on Friday night, splitting the first two matches. They were runaway wins for each side, finishing up on the 14th green before darkness fell.
When the teams went to bed, each side led two matches but there was one critical match with just a 1-up margin. Angel Cabrera and Marc Leishman, however, held up their end and brought home the point for the International side to pretty much secure a 3-3 split. Zach Johnson and Jason Dufner, who will sit out the Saturday morning Four-ball session up next, managed to keep the final match out on the course longer than expected but could not pull off a miraculous comeback. They started the day 4-down, but still took their match to the 17th green before a half wiped out their chances.
This is the first time since Day 1 of the 2005 Presidents Cup that the International side has not lost a Foursomes session. With 10 more points up for grabs in two Saturday sessions, we have ourselves a competition. The final results from Friday/Saturday’s second session of Foursomes:
