Presidents Cup 2013 results: Scores from Saturday’s matches

For the second straight day at the Presidents Cup, a lengthy delay prevented completion of the scheduled matches. The PGA Tour already had no margin for error at the start of the day, needing to finish up four matches from Friday and then hold 10 new matches over a morning and afternoon session. But the third straight day with rain forced another hour-plus delay, and only one of the five late Foursomes matches finished before play was called. The American team currently holes a 11.5 to 6.5 lead over the Internationals, with those four matches left to finish Sunday morning and then 12 singles matches immediately following that.

Zach Johnson and Jason Dufner, who got to sit out the morning Four-ball session, rolled to a 4&3 win against Richard Sterne and Marc Leishman. Dufner and Johnson struggled out of the gate, falling in a two-down hole before switching the momentum with a crucial win on No. 8. It was part of a streak in which they won six of eight holes to dramatically flip things from 2-down to theh 4-up, 4&3 win.

These two are maybe the best ball strikers on the American side, and have been brutally tough on the opposition the last two years in both the Ryder Cup and Presidents cup. They were pin seeking again on Saturday night, dropping darts on Muirfield Village’s soaked and receptive greens. It was only fitting then, that these two irons aces ended it with a holed out eagle. Johnson struck a second shot iron on No. 15 just a foot from the cup, and one bounce later, it was in the bottom for the match win.

At one point, the Internationals led all five games in the afternoon Foursomes matches but the Americans, starting with that leadoff duo above, began to flip it around as the players made their way to the turn. Phil Mickelson and Keegan Bradley, the ignition for the U.S. side, are in the middle of another comeback. They fell in a 3-down hole against Jason Day and Graham DeLaet. It was the third straight time they’ve fallen behind, but as darkness fell, just like that, they had evened it up to all square on the 13th hole. Day and DeLaet had to be happy to get off the course to stop the American train.

What was once an International lead in all five matches is now looking like a split -- at best,mand only Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel look to be on their way to a sure point for Nick Price’s team.
