Stacy Lewis welcomes Tiger Woods to the No. 1 club

Stacy Lewis tweets congratulations to Tiger Woods on ascending to the top ranking in men’s golf.

Stacy Lewis wasted no time in congratulating Tiger Woods for joining her in an elite club of two after the former and current No. 1 won his eighth PGA Tour event at Bay Hill.

The problem was, nothing on Twitter goes unnoticed, so when the best player in women’s golf mistakenly welcomed Woods to the mountaintop, she caught flak (some gentle reminders, some just crude remarks) from followers who reminded her that the 77-time tour winner had actually been there before.

To which Lewis quickly responded with a mea culpa.

When Lewis recently leapfrogged Yani Tseng in the Rolex Rankings, by the way, the former No. 1 was one of the first to tweet her kudos. As of late Monday afternoon, Rory McIlroy had yet to hop on Twitter to applaud his boyhood hero for knocking him down a rung, though he may have texted his good wishes to his Nike teammate.
