Scottish Open 2013 scores and leaderboard: John Parry takes lead with 1st-round 64

The opposite of Sunday’s Wimbledon result: An Englishman sits atop the Scottish Open.

John Parry shot an 8-under 64 in the first round of the Scottish Open to take a one-stroke lead at Castle Stuart Golf Links in Inverness, Scotland. Simon Khan is one stroke behind Parry at 7-under.

Parry had a bogey-free round Thursday and opened the tournament with consecutive birdies on the first two holes. He also birdied Nos. 5, 6 and 9 to finish the front nine with a 31. He birdied Nos. 14, 16 and 18 to finish the round strong after four pars in a row after making the turn.

Khan also fired a bogey-free round Thursday and eagled the par-5 18th hole to close the round one shot off the pace.

Phil Mickelson is among a group of seven players tied for third at 6-under. Mickelson had six birdies, an eagle and two bogies in his round Thursday.
