Rory McIlroy had few bright spots in a 4-over 75 in Wednesday’s second and final round of the four-man PGA Grand Slam of Golf, but going all Bubba Watson to save par from a hazard on the 17th hole at Port Royal Golf Course certainly made the highlight reel.
Rory McIlroy goes lefty and splashes out for unlikely par from duck pond
Rory McIlroy comes in third in the four-man PGA Grand Slam of Golf exhibition, but he’ll have to send his white pants out for cleaning after scuffling to a soggy par on his penultimate hole at Port Royal GC.

McIlroy spooked a duo of ducks basking in the Bermuda sunshine when his tee shot on the 510-yard par-5 landed on an upslope of the quackers’ watering hole. It’s what happened next that mildly amused Bubba, who watched as his playing partner turned a club around and clanged the ball back into play (video via PGA of America).
McIlroy, who picked the wrong day to wear white, quipped, “I’ll need to get Bubba to lend me one of his clubs ... Bubba, you watching this?”
It took McIlroy three more shots to find the bottom of the cup, but a chip-in for par after a half-hearted approach to the green was impressive for the world No. 1.
Oh yeah, Martin Kaymer beat Watson in a playoff to take the title, with Jim Furyk (slotted in to make up a foursome in the event featuring the winners of the season’s four majors; Rory won two) bringing up the rear.
