Dog on the tee! Rory McIlroy plays with pup at Carnoustie
Rory McIlroy may have been in the middle of his round at the Dunhill Links Championship, but that didn’t mean there was no time for roughhousing with a dog running loose.

Rory McIlroy played keep-away with a spectator’s black lab that bolted onto the 18th tee Thursday as he played Carnoustie in the first round of the Dunhill Links Championship.
“I’m a big dog person and I love dogs,” McIlroy told reporters after carding a lackluster 73.
“Just something to, I don’t know, pass the time a little I guess. Got my doggy head cover out for him to play with for a little bit, which was good fun,” said the world No. 1, who finished far behind18-hole leader Oliver Wilson’s 64. “It’s always nice, whether we play here at Carnoustie or Kingsbarns or St. Andrews, a lot of people have their dogs out with them on the golf course, and any time I go past one, I try and give it a bit of a pat or a stroke or whatever.”
