Padraig Harrington can thank Carl Spackler for saving him the inconvenience of playing Thursday’s first round of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in his stockinged feet.
Bill Murray breaks into Padraig Harrington’s room to retrieve golf shoes
Bill Murray saves the three-time major winner from going shoeless at the Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland.

Seems Bill Murray, who played the gopher-hating groundskeeper in “Caddyshack” (among other starring roles), was on his way to Carnoustie, the Scottish site of this week’s European Tour pro-am, when he heard that Paddy had left his St. Andrews hotel room without his spikes.
“I was just about to get in my car and we got this emergency call — ‘Mr. Harrington has forgotten his golf shoes,’” Murray, who was about to exit the same hotel, told Bernie McGuire. “So we went up and broke into room, and I got to try on some of his clothes and then I grabbed his shoes. But the good thing was we then got to drive faster to Carnoustie, which was good.”
The newly shod Harrington opened with a 6-under 66 on the course that in 2007 yielded the first of his two straight British Open titles.
As for Murray, the former “Saturday Night Live” comedian met up with Damian Lewis, ex of “Homeland” (spoiler alert!) and Jamie Dornan of “Fifty Shades of Grey” fame for a putting contest, according to E! Online.
