Richard Sherman reminds us of a recent Ryder cup diss

Richard Sherman may have no idea who Patrick Reed is, but the Seattle Seahawks shutdown corner reminded at least one golf observer of the brash U.S. Ryder Cup star when he shushed the 49ers fans Thanksgiving night after his second of two interceptions.

Reed, you may recall, had the golf world buzzing after his “top five” boast following his win at Doral last year, even prompting several commentators to compare the mouthy PGA Tour player’s braggadocio to Sherman’s post-NFC Championship Game rant.

Reed’s curtain call, in his team debut, was a finger-to-lips taunting of the European-friendly Ryder Cup gallery in Scotland in September after sinking a birdie putt.

On Thursday night, Sherman had a similar message for the crowd at Levi’s Stadium, who were already quiet thanks to the beatdown the former Stanford star and his teammates were administering. Seattle led 19-3 at the time of the interception, which sealed the 49ers’ fate.

Reed, by the way, will fill in for Jim Furyk at next week’s Hero World Challenge, the tournament that will mark Tiger Woods’ return to competition after a lengthy layoff to rest his surgically repaired back.
