Rory McIlroy serenaded by ‘Sweet Caroline’ at rugby match

Michael Madrid-USA TODAY Sports

Rory McIlroy went to an Ulster-Connacht rugby match in Belfast and a Boston Red Sox game broke out.

Well, not exactly. But some prankster in charge of the stadium music serenaded the world No. 1, who was in the midst of a halftime interview with the BBC, with Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline” and caught the ex-fiance of tennis star Caroline Wozniacki by surprise.

McIlroy’s “Oh, dear” -- in response to the tune that was an obvious reference to the four-time world champ’s busted engagement and that has become an eighth-inning anthem at Fenway Park -- was worth the price of admission.

McIlroy abruptly broke up with Wozniacki in May after the couple had sent out wedding invitations. He went on to win three straight PGA Tour events, including the season’s final two majors, the British Open and PGA Championship.

So good! So good! So good!
