John Daly to return to Augusta Hooters for Masters Week 2014

John Daly will once again sling Loudmouth and other stuff from the Hooters parking lot while golfers with playing privileges vie for the green jacket a mile up the road at Augusta National.

John Daly has not played in a Masters tournament since 2006, but the two-time major winner, with his Loudmouth-stocked RV, has become a fixture just down Washington Road from the iconic home of the men’s first major of the season, and 2014 will be no different.

Daly, who missed the cut after carding a second-round 90 in his most recent PGA Tour appearance at the Valspar Championship, finished tied for third in the Masters in 1993. It was his best performance in 12 outings, the last three resulting in MCs, and has relied on the kindness of sponsors for playing time on tour since he lost his card in 2006.

As a past major titleholder, Daly would qualify to play in practice rounds and in the annual Par-3 Contest, according to Dave Shedloski. Long John eschews such occasions, however, in favor of parking his mobile home outside the Hooters eatery about a mile from the action and peddling his trademark colorful couture, “grip it and rip it” bibs, and other wares.

In the days leading up to the 2013 Masters, fans lined up to chat with the popular pizza entrepreneur as he signed autographs and chatted with customers and members of the media (by appointment only) and they will, no doubt, do so again during this year’s Masters Week.
