Masters live streaming 2014: How to watch Friday’s round online

The 2014 Masters continues on Friday, and if it’s anything like the first round, it should be an eventful day at Augusta National. The combination of a difficult layout and dry conditions led to tough scoring conditions in the first round, with the course having the upper hand against most of the field. The result is a clustered leaderboard with just 19 players under par. Everyone will begin play on Friday chasing Bill Haas, who is 4-under, but a few notable names will need to play well to even make the weekend, yet alone work their way back into contention.

Phil Mickelson is among the players with work to do. He’ll open the second round at 4-over, eight strokes off the lead. Overall, he didn’t play poorly on Thursday with 13 pars, two birdies and a bogey. The problems came on two holes. A poor chip and a three-putt led to a triple bogey on No. 7. He ran into more trouble on No. 15 when his approach shot came up short and found the water. He went on to make a double bogey. If things stand where they are now, Mickelson would be in danger of missing the cut.

Adam Scott is in much better position heading into the second round. The defending Masters champion recorded a 3-under 69 in the first round and is just one stroke off the lead. He played extremely well, with five birdies, and could have easily been in the lead if not for a poor tee shot on No. 12. His shot at the par-3 came up short and ended up in Rae’s Creek. He went on to make a double bogey, the only blemish on his card. Scott played in the morning on Thursday, but will be one of the last players to hit the course on Thursday. A good portion of his round will occur during the television broadcast, which is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. ET. Viewers, however, will have another option to watch Scott and his group play, as he’ll be one of six featured groups.

CBSSports.com and Masters.com will provide two dedicated featured group streams. The streams will begin following the pairings once they hit the back nine and will show every shot from then on. Jason Day, Dustin Johnson and Henrik Stenson will lead off the stream No. 1 lineup. When their round is complete, Angel Cabrera, Gary Woodland and Ian Poulter will be featured. Scott, Jason Dufner and amatuer Matthew Fitzpartick will be the third and final featured group on the No. 1 stream lineup. The No. 2 stream lineup will start off with Bubba Watson, Luke Donald and Sergio Garcia. When their rounds are complete, Fred Couples, Webb Simpson and Chang-woo Lee will be featured. The stream will conclude with coverage of Jordan Spieth, Patrick Reed and Rory McIlroy.

All six groups will be of interest on Friday as they either feature a player in contention like Scott, Watson, Spieth and McIlroy, or a notable name needing a good round to make the weekend. Dufner at 8-over has the most work to do, but Poulter, Johnson, Donald and others are also in danger of missing the cut.

In addition to the two featured group streams, Masters.com and CBSSports.com will broadcast a live stream of Amen Corner and a stream dedicated to holes Nos. 15 and 16. The Amen Corner stream is scheduled to go live first, with the broadcast currently slated to begin at 10:45 a.m. The live stream of Nos. 15 and 16 is scheduled to begin an hour later at 11:45 a.m. The four streams are the only way to watch live golf before ESPN’s coverage begins in the late afternoon. Those looking for highlights and analysis of the round can tune into a stream of Live Masters on the Range.
