John Daly’s a professional golfer, Loudmouth shill, pizza pie and adult beverage entrepreneur, and now, apparently, a burgeoning country music star.
John Daly’s country music song ‘Hit It Hard’ gets some play
John Daly’s 2010 ode to his golf career, ‘Hit It Hard,’ makes the comeback Long John can only dream about.

— GolfCentralDaily Doc (@golfcentraldoc) August 27, 2014 Daly’s “Hit It Hard,” from an album he recorded in 2010, has been garnering almost as much attention as his unique golf attire since SiriusXM The Highway began playing the ode to Long John’s colorful career on and off the course.
I hit it hard, man
So far, man
No layin’ up, no holding back …
… I hit it long, man
‘Til its gone, man
Actual country music reviewer, Dayne Shuda, carded Daly an eagle for his playing (which you may sample here, and which Deadspin pronounced “not terrible”), which was not the two-time major winner’s first recorded effort. A 2004 album included a Shuda-judged classic, “All My Exes Wear Rolexes.”
Some may recall Daly’s rendition of Bob Dylan’s “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door,” which he rewrote with his own personal touches and performed at the 2011 Thailand Golf Championship:
Mama, I can’t hit my wedge no more,
It’s gettin’ really hard to score.
Haven’t made a cut in weeks,
My career looks so bleak.
