Tiger Woods, who many in golf circles believe ought to go solo on the practice range, may not be the best coaching choice to kick-start the back nine of the former world No. 1’s professional career.
Tiger Woods sounds like a terrible golf teacher, according to ESPN’s Stuart Scott
Tiger Woods inspired “SportsCenter” anchor Stuart Scott to take up golf, but the teaching methods of the 14-time major champion leaves a bit to be desired.

In fact, after an ad hoc golf lesson with the would-be playing coach, ESPN’s Stuart Scott was particularly underwhelmed by Woods’ methods. Scott, who credited Woods’ “passion” and “unique and different” playing style with his own golf addiction, recounted for Sports Illustrated Golf his scintillating on-course session with the 14-time major champion.
“I was playing golf with him one time,” Scott recalled, “and we got to this hole, and I said, ‘T-Dub, what do you do off the tee?’ And he was like, ‘This is easy. You hit like a 275-yard drive with a seven-yard draw.’ And I just looked at him and said, ‘That’s all you do?’ And he said, ‘Yeah.’
“That’s how he teaches,” Scott concluded.
It sounds a bit like Woods, who on Monday fired swing guru Sean Foley after a four-year, eight-win, major-less run, may want to consider the old adage that observes that a man who serves as his own lawyer “has a fool for a client.”
