Rory McIlroy has added a new stroke to his repertoire -- the one-handed, flat-stick dunk shot, which he executed with perfection after four-putting (one, two, three, FOUR!) from under five feet on the par-3 12th hole Saturday at the BMW Championship.
Rory McIlroy 4-putts from 4 feet, whacks golf ball into a lake at BMW Championship
Rory McIlroy was none too pleased after four-putting from under five feet on a the par-3 12th hole Saturday at the BMW Championship.

The world’s top-ranked golfer found the rough off the tee and chipped to some four feet, nine inches from the pin and then -- well, watch for yourself:
“That is four. Putts,” Captain Obvious, NBC’s Johnny Miller, whose own struggles with the blade were legendary, stated with due deliberation for those without access to an abacus.
Rory's 4-putt at the 12th: Missed from 4 ft 9 inches, missed from 2 feet, missed from 1 foot 7 inches .. . Yikes.
— Randall Mell (@RandallMellGC) September 6, 2014 Rory, as one might expect, was not pleased with his triple-bogey performance. At least he needed just one whack with the putter to smack the offending orb into the green-side hazard, where it now sleeps with the fishes -- not unlike the ball he tossed into a pond last week at the Deutsche Bank Championship after hitting a ball backwards in a bunker.
But McIlroy’s not a four-time major champion for nothing. He bounced right back with a one-putt birdie on the 13th, though a bogey on the next par-3, the 16th, erased that benefit.
Needless to say, McIlroy’s triple shocked, and at the same time delighted, weekend warriors who have never, ever four-jacked greens at their local munis. Then again, none of them is golf’s No. 1.
4 putt from Rory... Wow but impressed with the putter volley into the water after #notasgoodasminemate
— Mark Durrant (@markdurrant85) September 6, 2014 That was interesting, flip to golf for 10 seconds and see Rory 4 putt from 3 feet! @Brunsrob4
— Mitch Lefeld (@mitchdlefeld) September 6, 2014 Rory just 4 putt from 5 feet. I feel better now
— Stile Kang ™ (@StileKang23) September 6, 2014 McIlroy finished up his not-so-stellar third round with a 2-over 72 and will head into Sunday’s finale at 4-under for the week -- nine shots back of 54-hole leader Billy Horschel.
