Rory McIlroy went to Twitter Sunday morning to back Marshawn Lynch’s penchant for giving the figurative finger to the media covering him and his Seahawks.
Rory McIlroy tweets support for Marshawn Lynch’s right to stiff-arm the media
Golf writer’s dream, Rory McIlroy, believes the Seattle Seahawks’ Marshawn Lynch should not have to talk to reporters if he doesn’t want to.

Love this! Paid to play not answer questions "@SportsCenter: Marshawn Lynch after every question in his postgame interview, "I'm thankful."
— Rory Mcilroy (@McIlroyRory) January 11, 2015 Since he was fined $100,000 earlier in the season for snubbing the gathered scribes eager to report his every bon mot to the masses, Lynch has taken to offering rather unenthusiastic responses -- “Yeah,” “Maybe,” “I don’t know,” “No juice,” and “Thanks for asking” -- to each query.

— Gregg Bell (@gbellseattle) November 24, 2014 Sunday, after Seattle routed Carolina, 31-17, Beast Mode’s clipped riposte of the night consisted of the two-word response McIlroy cited in his tweet.
And that sparked a spirited tilt of tweets between McIlroy and Matt Cleary, a contributor to The Guardian and Australia’s Inside Golf, among other outlets. In the age-old debate about the roles and responsibilities of reporters, Cleary suggested that athletes owed their cushy lifestyles to media coverage, McIlroy -- a darling of golf scribes -- took the other side, and some other journos jumped into the fray as well.
@JournoMatCleary because we're good at it....
— Rory Mcilroy (@McIlroyRory) January 11, 2015 @ali24867 shouldn't put someone in an environment they aren't comfortable in. Luckily I am comfortable so it's not a problem for me....
— Rory Mcilroy (@McIlroyRory) January 11, 2015 @JournoMatCleary people are interested in our sports regardless of media coverage. Media enhances it I totally agree with you there.
— Rory Mcilroy (@McIlroyRory) January 11, 2015 @JournoMatCleary but he has 50 team mates that can answer q's about the game. Media insist that they want him as its a bigger story. Unfair.
— Rory Mcilroy (@McIlroyRory) January 11, 2015 @Erin_Molan sport and media go hand in hand... Both need each other to maximise potential on both sides
— Rory Mcilroy (@McIlroyRory) January 11, 2015 Rory’s last word was an expression of appreciation for Seattle’s star running back.
I don't know ML but seems like he marches to the beat of his own drum, isn't defined by what other people think. I respect that in a person
