Bubba Watson urges on Chesson Hadley’s cliff diving in Maui

Bubba Watson had a bird’s-eye view to a bit of dumb-ass derring-do from Chesson Hadley, who risked more than the $1.14 million winner’s share at stake in this week’s Hyundai Tournament of Champions when he jumped off a cliff into the aqua waters of Maui.

Hadley, wearing a GoPro and chanting “safety first” as he edged along the ledge before leaping, appeared to have emerged unscathed from his Tuesday jump and will make his ToC debut on Friday. The winner of last year’s Puerto Rico Open may want to take care for the rest of the week, though, since there’s a history of somewhat bizarre injuries befalling players in Hawaii.

Zach Johnson almost had to withdraw from the 2011 version of this event with a banged-up toe, and Geoff Ogilvy hurt his right index finger in a swimming accident that same week and did not start the ToC.

Safety first, dude.
